NAK CARI KEJE, NAK CARI KEJE

my head is still spinning at the thought of being jobless. this is such a gamble! tomorrow's going to be another mad search for jobs - saturday's recruit section. taking passport pictures, digging for past exam result transcripts, doing up that 'perfect' resume (for the old skool method of snail mail), photocopying all the necessary certs... all these to be done pronto. online applications are easier, but they still take a minimum of one hour to complete. have i mentioned before that i hate to be interviewed? well, i absolutely abhor it. having to act all prissy and confident and know-it-all. then there's membodekking the interviewer. chey, tu part wa tak bleh carry.

am i really doing the right thing? leave all this stability behind? plus you have so many commitments to attend to, you know rouge?? what if you don't get a decent job by august? you want to die is it? that padang bola of a house you must pay, you know? rouge, kau ni betol gatal lah...

BUT. if i don't quit, i'll sink into depression. if i don't quit, my blood pressure's going to rollercoaster like there's no tomorrow. if i don't quit, my berak-berak syndrome will make a comeback with an extra "ummph". i'll become more skeletal and will be exhausted 24-7 (that's a promise). how to be a good wife like that? or better still, how to become a normal person with a healthy body and mind? do you still want to live with the daily verbal abuse at work? it's not like they're going to remove all those neraka jahanam classes from your load you know? in fact, they're giving you more next semester! how fantafabulous!!

see? the dilemma.

i *have* to believe that rezeki is everywhere. well, i just have to. cos there is no turning back now.

i'm just heartened to know that there are many nice bloggers out there. i mean, they are REALLY nice and sincere people. some who are willing to go an extra mile to help you. touching giler. well, you know who you are. thank you from the bottom of my heart.

one thing lifted a load off my kancheong spider shoulders today: my wedding invitation cards from KL are finally here! aah, so pristine and white. very virginal (as it should be. hee!). these are for the day event. my dinner cards belom buat lagi. mampos!

AUF WIEDERSEHEN

i've just made a life-altering decision. no time for regrets now... i hope i've made the right choice.

time to submit that resignation letter. it's all typed out; with carefully chosen vocabulary intended not to cause offence *rolls eyes*. the management WILL be stupified, no doubt, cos of my ill-timing. but i HAVE my reasons. *sob* i'm SO going to miss those eccentric, fascinating colleagues of mine! and of course, my form class ~ fab kids. i wish them all the best, i do.

my parents have given their blessings. man-boy is more than happy with my decision ("you can finally breathe!"). so now i need the best possible luck ever in getting that new job. mudah-mudahan my rezeki murah. AMIN.

urgh. this is scary stuff.

MAMA M.I.A!

the mom is vacationing in kl, and therefore the kitchen duties have been transferred to me. it's been quite a while (read: months!) since i've gone on a cooking spree, but seeing that cooking will be a daily routine for me *soon*, 'tis a good time to unleash all that latent jamie oliver energy in me. LOL!

yesterday i did ayam masak merah, but all the chicken disappeared before i could even take out mr sony (thanks to certain visiting cousins of mine. heh). today for lunch ~ one of my favourite things to eat:

black pepper fusilli bolognaise

jempot eh! :)

RITCHIE ROUGE

*grumble grumble*

i'm super broke. more broken than broke! the big day is inching nearer and nearer... and i'm feeling the stress, whether it's the planning or the spending! saving up for a wedding is no joke. for people who get sponsored by parents (fully or partly), well, you're lucky. but for people like me, fuhhhhh... the kepala can botak, you know!! i started saving like 3 years ago, way before my engagement. some people have a formula to saving, the most common being 20% of their pay. i save slightly more than that. it's painful alright, but i must persevere! only 2 more months to go. 2 more months.

so people who are planning to embark on a similar journey, remember:

START SAVING EARLY (especially if you want your dream wedding). and be disciplined about it.

but i don't deny that some months you may encounter problems. like suddenly facing emergencies and having to forgo that month's savings. or people relentlessly borrowing money from you and then hesitating to pay it back just because you have this supposedly "BIG STASH" in the bank - you know, people *assuming* that you have more than enough to spend on your wedding, and so "hey, i can bloody well take my time to pay him/her back! or perhaps - never!!"

second tip of the day:

NEVER, EVER TAKE ADVANTAGE OF A PERSON WHO IS SAVING UP FOR A WEDDING. cos bloody hell, that person doesn't scrimp and save just so that YOU can buy a new toy. or pay YOUR bills. or pay for YOUR short holiday trip that YOU YOURSELF can't afford.

cos weddings *are* expensive. and you're never guaranteed full returns after the big day itself. so please please please, get off my back. let me stress over the more important things right now. i get very, very upset when my careful plans get out of whack. i'm not bothering other people to pay for my wedding, so why bother me?

oh, amidst all this madness in my head, i'd like to shout out to my sister, nurul, for making it to nus' architectural faculty. cedebah, bleh tahan jugaklah adik gua, very the unsangkarable. hehe... oi, you can build that dream house of mine should i ever decide to become a full-time tai-tai in australia ok? don't forget to snag a henskem mat architect while you're at it!

A DATE WITH HANDSOME HARRY

yup. me and the ladies had a hot date with that infamous potter over at lido today. menage-a-six, you say? hmmm... :)

it was actually my second time dating this hot hunk. how could i resist seeing him again right? anyways, the more the merrier. hee!

since i'm still recovering from the euphoria of seeing him 'in action' (heh), let hana tell you the story.

TREASURE HUNT

looks like i have to set up a cpr station here eh? too many ladies fainting! :)

meanwhile:

the race for the manic-hantaran-items-a-hunting has begun! while some people choose to start a year earlier (so that they can buy one item per month), man-boy and i have chosen to buy everything at one go *this* month cos of, what else, the great singapore sale...! it's quite exciting you know!

so far, we managed to get only one item for me - perfume and toiletries - as all the other stuff that i wanted were all out of stock. MAC *and* bobbi brown. yessirreebob. i'll have to wait lah, i guess. on top of that, i didn't manage to find any nice shoes! nine west was utterly disappointing. but a certain "vj ash" had given me tips on where to find gorgeous shoes (at a discount, no less), so that's where i'm heading to later. tenkiuk hor, auntie jamz...

buying things for him was far more fruitful. i bought him perfume, toiletries, shaver and shoes (smart mamat shoes, as he called them) in a matter of one hour. and b, regardless of what your complaints are, you NEEDNEEDNEED me to put a stop to all that fickleness ok? :p

today's agenda:

watches. and shoes for me of course. heh. and more toiletries. oops.

ps// hana, in a state of 'constant cravings', i tried that fondue thingy yesterday; and while the ice-cream and bananas were scrumptious and all, kiwi *does not* go with chocolate!! *bloated face*

THE PASIR RIS OUTBACK

*munching on juicy starfruit*

yesterday i felt like i had gone on the set of 'survivor' - bamboo furniture, black tiles, spa-ish layout... haha NOT!

ismalina had come over my place to get her bridesmaid material from me, and since i was bored, the hudds had kindly invited me over to their new (pre-reno) house, just a few blocks away.

and it was HUGE. all 149 sq metre (feet?) of it. the previous owners had left behind many of their belongings in the apartment. lucky them. i've never seen anything like it, really. everything in bamboo. all they need to do is to play up the downlights and install a couple of tiki torches, and ta-dah!... TRIBAL COUNCIL! very, very uniquelah. hudd was joking that we spend alternate weekends at each other's house. yahlah, with man-boy's pool table, and hudd's fusball table, i think that is not entirely impossible. ism, we better find something interesting to do while the boys entertain themselves. learn how to start a fire perhaps? LOL

YET ANOTHER WEDDING UPDATE

i had the opportunity to grace sofia's beautiful apple green wedding last weekend. the bride and groom looked berseri - they were beaming from ear to ear! well, who can blame them? :)

I PRAY YOU'LL GET BETTER

not long after my previous entry, mum called me to tell me that she had to go to A&E at changi hospital. *gulp* apparently, she experienced something like a minor stroke on her face and her blood pressure was sky high. so off i went with man-boy, to fetch my entire family to the hospital. mum has been warded for the past 2 days now.

she is still under observation and going through various tests. today she'll be doing a CAT scan for her head. my mum is so not looking forward to it, cos she's one big scaredy cat (no pun intended)! alah, same-same like me oso...

my mind has been in shambles these past few days. i feel this huge responsibility as the eldest to make my mum better; she's still young - 47. this is why we should never take our health and our parents' well-being for granted aye? life is fragile and unsuspecting indeed.

the family and i have been spending whatever spare time with mum at the hospital cos she hates being alone. and the visitors she had, wah lao, kalah orang operation! heh. but alhamdulillah eh? more people to offer her get-well prayers. :)

*off to hospital*

EXTRA LONG ENTRY COS IT'S BEEN A WHILE SINCE I BLOGGED

had my rapunzel hair trimmed that other day with hana (that tai-tai did highlights!). now it's at a comfortable bra-strap length (how else do you say it? mid-back? err..) 'tis amazing how hair can grow and GROW once you ignore its existence. it's now time for me to keep those stray split ends in check and restore the shine for THE day! i'll soon do a DIY colour job, to save costs. what colour, what colour... *dum dee dum*

SO. yesterday, man-boy and i finally completed our pre-marriage preparatory course. the day before that, we had a ball choosing our outfits for the event and studio. oh, the fickleness! eh, i know what you're thinking; it wasn't me ok? it was that fiance of mine - he's one heck of a fussy dude!! but thank god we settled everything in just a day (albeit the WHOLE day). no more going to the shop to choose outfits. enough.

i'm just smiling at the thought of being a technicolor bride. that's right, we've chosen outfits in various hues, ranging from the creamy pastels to bright reds and whathaveyous! my mother would be proud. HAH. baju suma glamer seh. but nice lah. trust me. hehe.

my uber nice bridal designer was fantastic enough to throw in three new outfits for me! yup, i get to wear them before everyone else. *grins* the best part is, they'll be custom-made to my size! i'm so, so thankful. feeling celebrity sekejap, you!

my baju nikah, on the other hand, is well on its way at another bridal. due to my microscopic size, the best option is look tailor one myself (so i can keep for my future daughter too lah!) nothing beats an ivory nikah outfit with all that delicious embellishments, aye?

also, i have completed my satin material purchase for all my beautiful bridesmaids. it's a very pretty colour.. *winks* later i'll be meeting you all to passing-passing the kain ok?

by the way, here are some picts of the Black Eyed Peas concert that i went to a few days ago. they kicked major ass!!

check out fergie's abs... boleh buat cuci kain beb. and guess who i bumped into? why, it's none other than the famous berita harian pengantin themselves (*my* future bridesmaid and man-boy's future bestman). come on straits times, streats, lianhe zaobao ~ take my picture pulaklah!
