HUNGRY HANTUS

my plans to have popcorn materialised, even if it was at izadnhana's (microwaved version). and i watched the last episode of 'friends', not some spanking new movie. i was satiated nonetheless.

but before *that*, we embarked on our next project X plan (what, ANOTHER one?) yessireebob. we love 'em project Xs. they keep us young. heheh. this time it's X with a pinch of kari powder. AMAK.

it was a trip to yes, you guessed it, serangoon...

where we were awed by the colourful displays,

& dined at recommended chapati joint (sedap tak bedek!)

minachis...

where's izad? he was busy sucking on goat's legs. hurhur.

but we got what we wanted, and squeezed our way home through the throngs of people celebrating hungry ghost on the streets of little india.

i told hana we should all perform on the getai stage one day. in a sequinned britney get-up. confirm apek steam.

MONDAY'S NOT SO BLUE (MAYBE COS I'M A FRIGGIN' TAI-TAI)

my marangprapukepundenparangskeper pooter is still not ok yet. now i can't even use my printer or microsoft office!! maybe it's a sign i should get a laptop. heh. yah right.

the weekend was filled with family barbeques and weddings (september's a mighty popular month, isn't it?) i had man-Man's best bud as a stand-in hubby at one friend's wedding. for photographic purposes only hokayyy...

with stand-in hubby and the pengantins

me with dear sabs

today's mission is to send my wedding film negatives for conversion into a cd-rom, so that they can be uploaded here for your viewing pleasure. i is the sungguh tak kuasa nak scan.

i'm dying to watch a movie. it's been so long since i watched one. too long. maybe i'll catch a movie later. me, my popcorn and i.

GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN

something's wrong with my crappy computer. i can't access my hotmail functions so i can't send or reply to emails. damn it. there are emails that i have received from some of you out there that need replying asap, so if you're still waiting... sorry eh? i'm getting this pooter fixed tomorrow. i promise!

msn has been my best friend these couple of days. i managed to catch up with an old friend, and did we CHAT. ooh, she gave me many useful tips too! *winkwink* tips i can definitely use. schtank yew hor auntie. i owe you big time. donch forget this tuesday we have a kinky date. you and me and one 1.82m tall bodyguard. hopefully it will bear fruit. *my* fruit. heheh. jeng jeng jeng!

another galpal's birthday is coming. i'm all excited planning for it with the rest of the babes. get ready for a spicy experience wokay!!

with ALL this free time on my hands, i can't help but to cook up a mentel-but-friggin'-necessary plan for the hubby's homecoming in 2 weeks' time. a 2nd honeymoon wouldn't hurt now, would it?

dapat pahala beb. :p

JANGAN TINGGAL DAKU

after 3 weeks of married life, he finally left me.

nah, it's not what you think! :p

it's time for yet another offshore assignment; melbourne this time. for 3 painful weeks. or more.

i've said it before, i'm saying it again: i'll never get used to him going away!

i bet he's feeling even worse than me. at least i'm among family. he's all alone there. kesian dia.

i've been getting a lot of these lately: how's married life? is baby on the way? (gasp!)

married life's peachy so far. :) one thing surprised me though. i thought we were done with the courting, cos we dated for dinosaur years, but boy was i wrong - the courting has just begun! macam baru dating you, seronok! macam gini yang makcik suka!! i *strongly* endorse marriage. heh.

we have one unspoken rule. it's simple, but one which i believe will strengthen a marriage in the long run. it's to always hold hands; whenever, wherever possible. jalan-jalan hold hands, depan the pakciks & makciks hold hands, tengok tv hold hands, tido pon hold hands. i want to be holding hands with him even till the day my bedendengs sag in my shoes! LOL... i like holding his hands anyway. they're softer than mine.

baby's not coming so soonlah. no rezeki yet. but we're trying, we are! pray for us k. in the meantime, he'll do for now. :)

the "mewest" addition to the family, Kecik a.k.a Senget.

more favourite moments of the big day:

but for now, this is what i would rather ogle at.

lakiku yang hensemberg (aik, kalo bini tak puji, sape lagi yang nak puji, kan? hehe)

MY BIG FAT PURPLE WEDDING

i'm officially someone's wife - bini orang! :) it felt surreal initially, but reality is gradually sinking in.

i LOVE being married!

sure, there are many unexpected changes to adapt to, my entire routine has gone through an overhaul, but to sleep and wake up next to the one you love (crusty eyes et al), now that's a truly wonderful feeling.

my deepest apologies for the lack of updating, but things got crazy immediately after the wedding with the two mak pengantins not being in the pinkest of health. in between rushing them to the hospitals for operation/treatment, shuffling non-stop between two households like nocturnal nomads, doing our studio and outdoor photoshoots and planning an impromptu honeymoon (we went to maldives!!), there was really no time to even switch on the computer. and honestly, the reason why i'm finally updating today is because we're finally taking the day off from visiting the elders... hee!

here's a recap of my purple wedding journey:

thursday 120804
jewel came over to my place to do my henna. she's this really talented chick who just doodles 'em henna designs effortlessly! super steady hands, she has. vain lil madame hana popped over for a visit, to enjoy what was left of my henna. she drove home happy, with henna intact on one hand. i, on the other hand, slept with the henna on in the most awkward position ever for eight hours, which i discovered was a good thing. cos the henna left a lovely dark red-brown stain on my skin. click here for hana's take (er, but you first need a password to view this. email her if you don't already have it ok?).

the home bridal dais and the bridal chamber were also done by this time. the dais was saccharin sweet with its cream and pastel palette and my room had never looked sooo.... GRAND. purple tones and flowers everywhere! the hantaran baskets had flowy, tulle veils attached to them. they looked like runaway brides themselves, methinks. but so, so lovely.

friday 130804
relatives started to stream in during the day and i was already in a state of panic right after waking up cos my berkats were still nowhere near done! thank god for cousins and aunties. they helped me wrap my berkats (both the bulu and the flower ones) up till two in the morning. i *was not* a well-rested bride. i didn't have time at all to reflect on what was going to happen the next day with all the mad, MAD, last-minute rushing i had to do (even after planning the wedding 2 years in advance okay!). so the jittery, mammoths-in-the-stomach feeling did not make its much-awaited appearance after all. *until* i lay my head down to sleep, that is.

the mammoths arrived in the grandest of fashion and had a private party in my belly. overwhelming thoughts (party music?) kept replaying in my head like a broken tape recorder. this is it. this is what you've been waiting for for the longest time. omigod, what a HUGE responsibility. i hope he's doing fine. i hope he won't get cold feet. this is crazy. i'm finally getting married. i'd never thought i'd get married. never thought we'd get this far either, but here we are, ten years later. omigod, we've gone through SO much together. and the tears just flowed freely. i had to force myself to count sheep (bululess ones) cos i didn't want to wake up with swollen eyes...!

saturday 140804
i woke up bright and cheery (no swollen eyes in sight!), performed my solat and waited in anticipation the rest of the morning for the andam people to arrive. i told the tukang andam, "please use waterproof mascara on me in case i cry later, which is a big probability - 99%." cos you see, i never fail to cry at other people's wedding. as it turned out, i didn't cry at my own... hah!

after nazri successfully 'aced' the solemnisation ceremony (his voice was so loud it shocked even me), i remember sitting in the bedroom feeling an odd mix of happiness, numbness, relief and disbelief. i felt like i was floating on air. nonetheless, i heaved a thankful alhamdullillah to almighty Allah for making our solemnisation a smooth one. i then yearned to see my new husband cos throughout the ceremony, i could only hear him from the inside the room. when he finally emerged, i couldn't help but to smile from ear to ear... he looked so handsome! he was smiling too, ever so genuinely. i could tell he was happy. so was i. even the room wafted of the clinique "happy" i had on me. i had chosen the right fragrance afterall. :)

the day went on without any major glitches. i'd never thought being on the dais could be such a sweltering experience. boleh cair, beb. but the dais in the void deck was beyond my expectations; it was gorgeous! kak ema of decorama had done a great job decorating the void deck (she fulfilled my martha stewart dreams!). all i had to do now with the hubby was smile. smile sMiLe SMILE.

my calm, smiley countenance eventually gave way when i had to salam my parents on the dais. i could see my dad fighting off his tears and my mum... well, she was a mess. she started crying even *before* she sat down. what's a girl to do? join in lah! on a more serious note, it was a truly emotional moment. they were no longer responsible for me. that realisation pained me. i could only imagine what my parents were feeling.

come dinner time, i sashayed down to the void deck with my entourage of bridesmaids and groomsmen. i'm sure by now you all would have seen how beautiful they looked! all clad in different hues of lilac and purple. *sigh* i, on the other hand, wasn't feeling too great about how 'drama' i looked in my dinner get-up. the j-loesque gown was fine, but the makeup and the hair... so the very garang you know! macam diva mana aje. i would've preferred a cleaner, softer look but i was too tired then to make a fuss. nazri looked good. i couldn't stop touching him. heh.

during the dinner, i got to meet with all my close friends, colleagues and fellow bloggers (of course!). unfortunately, i didn't have time to interact much with blogger friends whom i was seeing for the first time that day; i had 25 tables to go round. but we did take pictures with every table, so that's a consolation. i would like to take this opportunity to thank every one of you who graced the occasion that evening. i wish i could've talked to you more, but we can always meet up after this right? and nana&wawa, iman and farihin - you're all so cute i can squeeze you like a tube of colgate!

dinner finished later than expected at 11 pm. the newlyweds were tired but happy. my head was still ringing with the speech that one of my bridesmaids had given during the dinner. what she said was from the heart (well, she *was* there to witness our sorta first date a decade ago) and we felt she truly understood what we went through all these years. nazri and i were touched (yes we were!). i hope she still kept a copy of it cos i so want to frame it up!

hubby left for home at 11.15 pm, and so i had to sleep alone in the fluffy bridal chamber on our first night. so sad right? so there you go. mystery solved. rouge did not have a first night. LOL. good things must wait mah!

btw, happy 10th dating anniversary baby! je t'aime beaucoup. voulez vous coucher avec moi ce soir? hehe!

sunday 150804
it was a second round of posing and smiling at his place in sengkang. luckily it was only two sets of costumes instead of the previous day's four. by late afternoon, naz complained that he was officially suffering from mouth cramps. i didn't blame him. i swore then not to smile for an entire month after the wedding. and everyone thought my best friend (who was by my side) was my mak andam and wanted to fix her up with naz's cousin. the hilarious part was, her husband was with her all along. even *he* too was eyed by curious aunties who obviously had VERY single daughters. i told them to hang "we're married" signs around their necks the next time they go to weddings.

our second day was also meriah, but it ended promptly at five (thank god). we went back to my place to retire for a couple of hours before heading to sentosa's shangri-la hotel at midnight for a well-deserved break (and for some well-deserved lovin'!)

all i can say is... it was worth the ten-year wait. LOL

i love you mr rini!

there are some people who deserve special mention, whom i would like to thank from the bottom of my heart:

* all my ten bridesmaids, who worked hard at being jembu, and also at helping out during the dinner reception. BIG thanks!

* ism, who helped me with my favour wrapping and was there for both days so much so that people mistook her for my mak andam.

* hana, who ran last minute errands for me (without whom i would've had an obvious VPL underneath my j-loesque gown) and loaned me her nikah shoes to save me money. she's the one whom i shared wedding tips with, and also the person responsible for my fab hen night part one. danke shen!

* is, who acted as my unofficial photographer savant for saturday. she sacrificed half a day of looking glamorous like the rest of the bridesmaids to make sure my special moments were captured.

* sab, who delivered that meaningful speech. and whose bridesmaid kebaya, i believe, was the most expensive of the lot. she looked like a million bucks that night!

* all my waks and ciks and lil cousins, for helping my parents out on my big day. my mum was not well and my dad, although beaming, was a nervous wreck inside. so every bit of help meant a lot.

* my maternal grandparents, for the huge emotional support they have shown me. they were over the moon to have witnessed their first grandchild get married!

* my parents, for all the advice and unconditional love they have given me all these years. all of which would not stop just because i'm married.

* my crazy siblings, for helping out whenever possible even though they complained a lot. dilah, the small one who was more excited about my wedding than i was. nurul, the fleshy one (hehe) who just can't wait for me to move out so that she can have my room. not forgetting my bro, who helped in making the wedding signboard.

* zul radi bridal couture for the fantastic makeup and sanding outfits, anggun andaman for the beautiful custom-made nikah outfit, poisephotography for the great journalistic coverage of the event, flipside for the exceptional wedding video, and decorama for giving me the absolutely stunning purple wedding that i've always wanted.

i am still in the process of scanning my wedding pictures but for those of you who would like a sneak preview, you can see them at izadnhana's (part I: nikah & sanding. part II: wedding dinner) and is' (click for her journalistic style).

i promise to upload the rest the soonest possible. :)

in the meantime, here are some picts from my honeymoon in maldives.

the rest of the pictures i'm afraid are too private for your viewinglah! :p

here's to a new beginning. i hope this union will last to the gates of heaven. Insya Allah.

now, back to baby-making time with man-MAN. hehe!
