6 WEEK UPDATE

my pantang days are over. *flashes a huge grin* and i've been out, out, out.

nevermind the fact that my post-op tummy resembles a wobbly tayar pancit. nevermind that the healed external stitches leave a numb feeling around the pelvic area that renders my gait funny. nevermind that i can't fit into ANY of my old bottoms (most tops too!). and most of all, nevermind the fact that my once flawless tummy is now a dead ringer for a rockmelon from china. stretchmarks lah kak, apa lagi. nonetheless, motherhood is the most wonderful gift a woman can ever ask for. and i embrace it wholeheartedly, battle scars et al.

my sweethearts, shortly after coming home

badam (left) and bagadil, haha!

how to tell them apart? well...

adam: more hair, longer eyelashes, 200g lighter, fairer, rounder head, and has 3 birthmarks on his cute butt

adil: less hairy version of adam, tanner (though we don't know why, cos they're supposedly identical :p. could be all that incubating in the nicu!), a lot more tembam, has no birthmarks but still has a cute butt

i loveee watching them sleep.

as for the ayah, he has since developed an addiction to kissing his boys. no longer the mummy. hmph.

oooh here's a bit of beckham action for you curious aunties. :)

not yet michelin babies, but i promise you they're on their way there ~ bagadil is already sporting a double chin! the powerful combination of my BM and formula milk will make them berketak-ketak beberds in no time. a far cry from the shrivelled lil raisins that they were when they first came out from my womb. as they say, preemies have a slow start, but they always catch up. :D

i know i'd promised a birth story, but since this mummy is on a tight schedule, a summary is in order!

monday, 15.5.06

1000 hrs: went to kk for 35th week check up (in a wheelchair, hah!)
1300 hrs: gynae confirmed i was 4 cm dilated (but i still felt fine, save for very mild cramps)
1400 hrs: warded
1500 hrs: epidural administered, gynae broke waterbag, induced to speed up labour
1700 hrs: adam's heart rate suddenly dropped to a dangerously low level because i shifted my body (major ER scene ensued, hubby and i too shocked to react)
1710 hrs: situation stabilised but gynae didn't like the way things were progressing
2130 hrs: good strong contractions, but only dilated till 6 cm, gynae strongly suggested c-sect
2145 hrs: had to stop resisting idea of c-sect, agreed to op
2200 hrs: wheeled into OT, sans hubby :(
2200++ hrs: could feel sharp pain as gynae made the first incision on tummy. either not enough epidural or epidural did not affect my left side fully. whatever it was, i screamed bloody murder behind my gas mask (which sent the nurses scrambling to top up my epi). if they were to put on the gas mask on me 5 seconds earlier, i wouldn't have been able to scream and would have gone through entire c-sect in excruciating pain. *shudder*
2230 hrs: adam delivered
2231 hrs: adil delivered (both to a VERY spaced out me)

the next time i got to see and hold them was 3 days later. heart pain you know.

i hatehatehate the c-sect and wish i'd never have to go through it again. macam traumatised gitu. the recovery also sucked (aiyah but i know no pain, no gain!).

natural birth next time round please? *prays hard*

but not till the next 3-4 years yahhh... let me enjoy these two darlings to the fullest first. :)
